The Ever-Changing Dance of Auras
Many people think of auras as static, a single color defining who we are—like a permanent label. But my own journey, captured in a series of aura photographs taken over a decade ago, reveals a different truth: auras are dynamic, shifting with our experiences, emotions, and spiritual growth. They’re not just one hue but a vibrant blend, reflecting the ebb and flow of life.
What is an Aura? An aura is an electromagnetic energy field that surrounds every living being, often visualized as a halo of colors. Believed to reflect our physical, emotional, and spiritual states, it’s thought to emanate from the chakras—energy centers along the body. While invisible to most, some can see it, and special photography, like the Kirlian or aura imaging techniques used for my photos, can capture these subtle shifts.

Chakras and Their Colors Chakras are seven key energy points, each linked to specific aspects of our being and assigned a color:
- Root (Red): Base of spine, grounding and survival.
- Sacral (Orange): Lower abdomen, creativity and emotion.
- Solar Plexus (Yellow): Upper abdomen, confidence and power.
- Heart (Green): Chest, love and compassion (sometimes blue for healing communication).
- Throat (Blue): Throat, expression and truth.
- Third Eye (Indigo): Forehead, intuition and insight.
- Crown (Violet/White): Top of head, spiritual connection and enlightenment.
These images not only captured my aura but also highlighted my chakras’ evolving energy. My first aura photo, taken while writing Revelations of a Singing Bowl: A Journey to Wholeness, glowed with dominant blue hues. This resonated deeply, as the book’s theme—my evolution after losing my father and husband within 11 weeks of each other—tapped into the throat chakra’s expressive energy, mirrored by the singing bowl’s G note. Two small orbs appeared at my arms, which I believe were my father and husband, guiding me through that grief.
Later images, one taken during my spirit-collaborated artwork depicting past lives, showed a red base, green heart, and purple crown and third eye, reflecting passion and spiritual depth, now with three orbs suggesting the inclusion of my son-in-spirit’s presence. Another, taken in the midst of my writing for a spiritualist blog, blended green and blue, a balancing of heart and throat energies. During one of my classes exploring metaphysical phenomenon, someone remarked that my aura at the time was gold—a sign of divine wisdom. How special...!
This fluidity challenges the idea of a fixed aura. My photos reveal solid colors at times, but often a beautiful blending, and also display chakras that light up or soften with each life phase. Auras evolve with us, shaped by joys, losses, and creative expressions. If you’re curious, try meditating on your energy or exploring aura photography. You might be surprised by the colors that dance around you, just as mine have over the years. What story do your auras tell?
